GAME APPARATUS.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE N. BYL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Game Apparatus, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved game apparatus, arranged to afford considerable amusement to the player by the latter spinning a top and causing the same to travel over an inclined surface, leading at its lower edge to a depression, means being provided for counting the game.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the game apparatus; and Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevation of the playing board.

The playing board A, of wood, metal, paper or other suitable material, is provided with an inclined surface B, preferably of conical shape, and surrounded at its upper edge by a wall C, and leading at its lower edge to a central depression D. On the inclined surface B are arranged spaced marking points E, on which are placed game pieces or markers F, preferably in the form of apertured disks, as plainly shown in Fig. 1. On the inclined surface B is adapted to be spun a spinning top G, of any approved construction, so that the spinning top G travels over the said inclined surface B, disturbs the positions of the game pieces or counters F, and passes into and out of the central depression D. The game is counted by the number of game pieces F placed in the depression D by the spinning top Gr for each run thereof, it being understood that the largest number of game pieces F decides the contest of the game between opposing Specification of Letters Patent.

It is understood that when the spinning top Gr passes into the central depression D, and its conical point strikes the inclined side wall of the depression, then an impulse is given to the spinning top to pass the same out of the depression back onto the inclined surface B, and this operation may take place several times during a run of the spinning top.

In playing the game it frequently happens that one or more of the game pieces F are propelled by the spinning top G, during one run, into the depression D, and are again forced out of the same by the action of the spinning top, so that considerable amusement is afforded to the players. The bottom of the depression D is preferably slightly dished and the side wall is inclined, as plainly indicated in Fig. 2, so that the spinning top G is not liable to remain in one position in the depression after having passed into the same from the inclined sur face B I The game apparatus is very simple and durable in construction, can be cheaply manufactured and affords considerable amusement to the players and onlookers.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

A game apparatus comprising a board having a central depression, and a conical surface encircling the depression and inclining toward the depression, and a wall encircling the conical surface, a plurality of ring shaped counters on the conical sur face, and a rotatable object for the purpose specified, said depression having a dished bottom and inclined side wall.
