ADJUSTABLE WINDOW-SHADE BRACKET.

Be it known that I, THOMAS H. EDWARDS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adjustable WVindow- Shade Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to window shade brackets and the primary object of the invention is to provide brackets for this purpose which are longitudinally adjustable so that the same may receive curtain poles of various lengths.
lVith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description progresses, the invention resides in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a pair of bracket-s constructed in accordance with the present invention, showing the same supporting a curtain ole. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of one of the brackets showing its slide plate arranged opposite to that shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken upon the line 33 of Fig. 1.
In the accompanying drawings, and referring particularly to Fig. 1 thereof, the numeral 1 designates the curtain and 2 the pole therefor. The numerals 3 and 4 designate the curtain brackets. Each of the curtain brackets comprises a wall plate section 5 having suitable eyes adapted for the reception of securing elements 6. The section has its body portion arranged at right angles to its securing portion, and the body is preferably of a U-shaped formation, being centrally provided with a longitudinal offset 7 The offset is formed with a suitable opening and the said offset has its sides or longitudinal edges bent to provide walls 8 and 9. The portion 7 thus provides what may be termed a channel member and the walls 8 and 9 are sufliciently spaced away to snugly accommodate a nut 10.
The numerals l1 designate the sliding plates for the device. These plat-es have their offset members 12 formed with suitable eyes or openings for the reception of the pintle of the rail while the main body Specification of Letters Patent.

The walls 13 and 14 of each of the sliding members are of a size sufficient to snugly engage the outer faces of the walls 8 and 9 provided upon the offset members of the wall plates. Each of the body members 12 of the sliding plates 11 is formed with an elongated opening 15, and adapted to pass through this opening as well as through the opening of the wall plate and to engage the nut positioned therein is aheaded screw 16.
In Fig. 2 of the drawings, it will be noted that the sliding plate may be reversed upon the wall plate if desired, thus permitting a comparatively great amount of adjustment of the said plate. It will be further noted that the nut retained between the walls 8 and 9 of either of the plates 8 and 4 is sustained against accidental displacement and that the sliding plate is effectively retained upon the wall plate through the medium of the screw 16.
Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim as new, is
In a device for the purpose set forth, a wall plate member having a right angular portion having side flanges, the central portion of said member being provided with a right angularly extending offset, the said offset being centrally formed with an opening and having side flanges to provide a housing for a nut, an angular sliding plate for the wall plate member, one of the angular portions of the said plate being provided with an eye or opening, the second angular portion of the plate having its side flanges and its body provided with an elongated slot, the flanges of the said member being adapted to overlie and engage with the flanges provided upon the offset portion of the first named right angular portion of the bracket, and a bolt extending through the elongated slot and engaging the nut which is positioned within the pocket of the offset portion of the wall plate member.
