the object thereof being to provide an article of furniture of this character which in its initial, or folded form, takes up a small amount of lateral space. in comparison with its width, which varies in accordance with the size of bed required; further objects being to produce furniture of the character named which is substantiah'though lightv in weight, and so constructed that its parts may be readily disassembled and folded for purposes of moving; the several parts ot the structure, when assembled, being maintained in properrelative arrangement necessary to alternately produce the two said articles of furniture.

.The invention will be hereinafter fully described and specifically set forth in the annexed claims.

In the operation and use of the invention, when it is desired to convert the same from its initial chair or sofa-shape toa bed, it is simply necessary to swing the frame ,C into horizontal position, and then pull outwardly until the frames C, B and E are extended, as shown by Fig. 4 of the drawings; during this operation the seat frame D, automatically drops into positionr and thespring G, is stretched taut Land on a horizontal plane, said spring being supported by and..

Having thus describedA my invention, what I` claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is Y l n l..
