F agar-ad $131135 To, all whom it; may concern ,Be it known that I, THOMAS SIMPSON, of Newark, in lithe county of Lickingand in the State of Ohio, haye invented certain new and nsefulrImprovements in Qornbined Lid and Plate-Lifter, and-PotJIoOk; and doll hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanyingdrawing and to the'letters of ref- .erence marked thereon making a part of this specification.

The nature of my invention consists inthe constructidh and arrangement of a combined lid and platelii'ter, and pot-hook, as will be hereinafter fully set foIft-h. i

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same this swinging hook D being connected with the front hooks O G, by means of a spiral spring, E;

The lifter, thus constructed, may be used for lifting hot plates or anything of the kind, the swinging hook readily adjusting itself to any sized plate;

The swinging hook D may also he used for a pothook. y y

In placeofthe spiral spring E, anyother spring may be substituted,-when it is so arranged as to throw the swinging hook forward; orthc spring may be entirely dispensed with. I 7
