Letters Patent N 99,766, dated l 'eb'r'uary 1 5, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN HAY-DRAG-S,
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
'l' 0 all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, DANIEL EDDELMAN and AMOS EDDELMAN, both of Madison, inthe county of Jefi'erson, and State of Indiana, have invented an Improved Hay-Drag; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, the figure being a perspective view of the same. a
The features of novelty in this invention consist of the looseness of each articulated point, for the purto accommodate themselves to the inequalities of the ground, and thus prevent any jar liable to upset the load of hay, and the arrangementand construction of the lqosedragging bottom and adjustable standards.
'An'other desirable feature of our invention is its extreme cheapness and simplicity, combined with durability and utility.
Let A A represent runners, provided with a double set-of sockets, a a, for staudards'BB.
These runners are tied together at the front end only by the cross-bar D, attached loosely to the said runners by means of pins E E. i
. 45 To this cross-bar are, attached the bottom boards 0. One only is shown, though more may be used.
The attachment of these boards to the bar, so that they are loose enough to play up and down as they drag over the ground, is necessary to the proper workigg of the machine. Otherwisethey may bea'ttached in any ordinary Way.
Hooks b b are provided for draft purposes. In operation, the hay is pitched on to the drag and hauled to the point required. The standards are then withdrawn, and the drag drawn from under. the hay. pose of allowing the runners and the drag ing bottom "Having thus described our invehtion, What we claim, is-
v A hay-drag, composed of the runners A A, stand-- ards B B, bar D, pins E E, and dragging bottomO, loosely articulated, in the manner and for the purposes substantially as specified.
Witness ourhands to this specification this 30th,
day of June, 1869. a a
