Letters Patent No. 101,652, dated April 5, 1870 dane-' GRIDIRON-CASE.
The Schedule referred to intheee Letters Patent and making part of the same To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MILTON V. N oBLns, of Elmira, in the county of Ohemung and State -of New York, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Gridiron-Cases; and I do hereby declare that theA following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part vof this specication, and to the letters and figures of reference' marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawing is a representation of a vertical section of my gridiron case.
Figure 2 is a view of my gridiron adapted for operation in said case; and
Figure 3 is'an external view of said case, showing the `mode of connection between the sections thereof.
My invention relates to household utensils, and
It consists in acase of novel construction and form, adapted for use in conjunction with a certain gridiron for which Letters Patent were allowed me on the 29th day of October,1869.
Myvgridiron-case is constructed in two sections, marked respectively A and B, on the drawings.
The section A has a handle marked C attached to its top, and its bottom is enlarged in such manner as to shut over the upper edge or rim of section B, and thereby be attachable to o r removable from said section B at will.
The letters a represent 4small ears or lugs in which the sliding holt c is held and operated.
I also make openings in said section A marked (l, (one on each side thereof,) to provide for holding and operating the gridiron, as hereinafter mentioned.
I sometimes make the extreme top of section B of mica, or I may make an opening therein, to be closed at will by a sliding door, to enable the operator to ex'- amine the interior of the case without removing lor disconnecting one section from the other.
Section Bis constructed in the form shown `on the drawings, and is open at both ends. Being substantially of the shape -of an inverted cone, its lower end is adapted to fit in potl1oles of various sizes from six to ten inches in diameter without the aid of rimmers.
The upper end otl this section B is arranged to f1tinside the lower end of a section A, and l make a' shoulder, s, to form a rest or support for section A when the two sections are united.
The letter e represents a lug or ear on section B, adapted to receive the b olt c, and in conjunction with lugs a to hold the two sections rmly together, when desirable so to do.
The letter H represents my gridiron, above referred l'to,a' full-description of which is given in my'specification accompanying my application for Letters Patent, and to which specification I hereby refer.
The mode of adjusting my gridiron in the ca se is shown on iig. l of the drawing, and.when so adjusted it may be rotated at will, the object being to bring each side of the article being beveled ortoasted to the re as often and as long as may be necessary or de- `Wtnesses D.
