UNITED sTAfrEs rAirEN'rJoFFIcE JAcoB' RosENMAN, `or NEW Yonx, v-N.` fr,
Specification ot Letters Patent.
`Patented June 25, 1912.
Application aledfaugust 22, 1911. serial No. s45,ssa.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, J'Aco ROSBNMAN, a. citizen of the United States, and residing at NewY York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cuff-Buttons, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled inV the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to cuff-buttons and particularly to what areA known as link-buttons; and the object thereof is to provide an improved device of this class which may be quickly and easily applied or connected with. a cuff and easily and conveniently detached.
when desired.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following s ecification of which the accompanying rawing formsa part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are desig' nated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is an end 'view of a cuff and showing my improved button and the method of its operation, part of the construction being in section, and; Fig. 2 a side view looking in the direction of the arrow X of Fig. 1.
In the drawing forming part of this specification I hai e shown at c a cud' of the usual vform and at b my improved button. The
button b comprises two jaw members b2 and 3 connected in the form of a V, or the form of a triangle, and having parallel shank portions b* secured together or connected bg a pin rf having heads c2. One of the jaws @-63, the jaw b2 as shown in the drawing, is
D,rotatably mounted on the pin c and the other jaw may also be rotatably mounted on said pin or may be rigidly secured thereto.
hut/ton The jaw b"I is provided with a pin d which is preferably rigidly connected therewith and which is adapted to be passed through the hotes a2 of the cull as clearly shown in Fig. 1, and in this operation the. jaw 7J is swung ro one side, and when the pin d has been passed through the button. holes the jaw b2 is swung back into the position of the above described operation, it being necessary to move said jaw laterally in thev plane of the pin d at the same time that it is swung to` one side as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2 in order to connect it with or 'V disconnect it from-the pin d,'it being neces# sar v, as will be understood, to disconnect/the jaw' bf from the pin d beforethe button can bei disconnected from the cuff. The jaws b and b3 may be provided with any desired ornamental settings e and the heads c2 of the pin c may also be provided with ornamental settings e2.
With cuff-buttons of this class as ordinarily constructed it is very', diflicult at times 'to connect the button with stiti' laundried ycuffs or disconnect the said `button from said cutl's, hut with m improvement this operation may be quickly and easily performed, all that is necessar being to swing the jaw b2 to one side an pass the pin d through both button holes] and then swing the jaw b2 hack inta'positien and connect it with the end of the pin J. It will' also be understood that my invention is notlimited to the exact details of(v ns cti/)n and operation herein shown and desciibe-.1,-and changes vtherein and modifications thereof may bc made, within the scope of the appended claim, without departing from the spirit offmy invention or sacrificing its advantages.
Having fully described my invention, Awhat I claim as new and desi-re tojsecure by Letters Patent,'is:- p
A cuff button comprising twojaw memhers connected in the form ,of a Y and having parallel shank portions connected by a, pin passed therethrough and on which said jaws are adapted to turn at a right angle to the plane of the jaws in their connected position, one of said jaws beingr provided in its inner face with a socket and the shank of .said jaw being elastic, end the other end presence of the subscribing witnesses this,
jaw being provided with a in which is 21st day of August-i911. adapted to be passed throng the button holes of a cuff and the free ena o'f which is JAQQB ROSENMAN' s adapted to enter the socket in the other jaw. Witnesses: In testimony that lI claim the foregoing C. E. MULRmNy,
as my invention I have signed my name in l FRANK G. Ar Les.
