MARIAN MILEWSKI, 0F CARMEL, NEW YORK.
TELEPHONE-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 1, 1912.
Patented June 11, 1912.
Serial No. 674,771.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARIAN lVIILnwsKI, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Carmel, in the county of Putnam and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Telephone-I-Iolders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a telephone holder, and the primary object of my invention is to provide an adjustable holder that can be attached to a wall or other support for conveniently supporting a desk telephone, thereby obviating the necessity of holding the telephone in one hand while the receiver is held in the other hand.
A further object of this invention is to accomplish the above results by a holder that is simple in construction, easy to adjust, durable and inexpensive to manufacture.
The principles of my invention are illustrated in the drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the tele phone holder, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a bracket forming part of the holder.
Further describing my invention with reference to the drawing, in which like numerals of reference denote like parts through out: 1 denotes a face plate secured to a wall 2 or other support by screws 3 or other fastening means.
4 denotes a curved end of an arm 4 that is carried by the face plate 1, said arm being soldered or otherwise connected to the face plate. The curved end 4 of the arm 5 has eyes or hooks 6 for a cable 7 that con tains the wires to establish a telephone connection. The opposite end of the arm 5 is flattened, as at 8 and provided with thumb screws 9.
1O denotes a T-shaped bracket having the stem thereof provided with a longitudinal slot 11 through which extend the thumb screws 9, said thumb screws adjustably holding the bracket relatively to the arm 5. The head of the bracket 10 has a longitudinal slot 12 and extending through said slot are thumb screws 13 that adjustably hold a bar 14 in engagement with the head of the bracket 10.
15 denotes clamps riveted or otherwise connected to the bar 14, said clamps having screws 16 whereby the clamps can be mounted upon the pedestal 17 of a telephone 18.
The arrangement just described constitutes the primary feature of my invention and in many cases this device without further addition can be used for supporting other devices than a telephone, as for instance, a shaving mirror.
It is thought that the adjustment of the holder is obvious, and while in the drawing, there is illustrated a preferred. embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that the structural elements are susceptible to such variations as fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Vhat I claim is A holder for the purposes set forth comprising a face plate, an arm projecting therefrom and having its outer end ofiset and flattened, a T-shaped bracket having the stem thereof longitudinally slotted and positioned against the flattened portion of said arm, a plurality of thumb screws for adjustably connecting the slotted stem of said bracket to the flattened portion of said arm, said bracket having its head provided with a slot extending in the direction of its length, a bar positioned against one side of said bracket, a plurality of thumb screws extending through the slot of the head and engaging in said bar for adjustably connecting it to the bracket, said bar of less length than the length of the head, a clamping member projecting from the upper and lower ends of said bar, and clamping screws extending through the free ends of said clamping members for securing these latter around an object.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
MARIAN MILEIVSKI.
