BRACKET.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, VERNON RoYLE and VERNON E. RoYLE, citizens of the United States, and residents of Paterson, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Bracket, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to a bracket and more particularly to a bracket for securing an electric motor-starting box to the supporting pillar or frame of a machine, the object being to provide a bracket of light, simple construction adapted to hold the box upright when attached to a slanting frame or pillar, and which, in its simplest form, may be used to attach the box to an upright support or to the underside of a horizontal support at pleasure.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure 1 shows the bracket in holding position against a slanting pillar, Fig. 2 is a View of the same in front elevation with pillar removed, Fig. 3 is a view in side elevation, partly in section, of a bracket suitable for attaching a box to the upright face of a frame or pillar, Fig. 4 shows the same in front elevation with frame or pillar removed, Fig. 5 shows the same in use to suspend a box from the under side of a table or horizontal support, and Fig. 6 is a top plan view of the bracket in the plane of the line A-A of Fig. 5.
Referring to the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the slanting supporting pillar is denoted by 1 and the box to be supported by the bracket is indicated in dotted lines. The bracket is of skeleton triangular form, the three apexes, denoted by 2, 3 and 4f, being provided with sockets screw-threaded or plain, for receiving retaining screws in a manner shown in section in the modified form in Figs/8 and 5. The walls of these sockets form legs, those at the apexes 3 and 4 being of the same length and denoted by 5, (Fig. l) and the one at the apex 2, denoted by 6, being longer than the legs 5, to place the bracket in an upright position Specification of Letters Patent.

when the ends of the three legs are placed against the side of the pillar. For attaching the box to the bracket, short extensions project from the bracket preferably ator near the three apexes, denoted by 7 8 and 9, and these are provided with sockets for receiving box retaining screws or bolts, as shown in Fig. 5.
In the modified form shown in Figs. 3 to 6 inclusive, the socket legs, here denoted by 10, 11, 12, are of substantially the same length and the extensions for attaching the box to the bracket, denoted by 13, 14, 15, project from the walls of the sockets.
'In Fig. 3, a screw 16 is shown passing through a smooth bore socket 17 in the bracket and into a screw-threaded hole in the pillar, while in Fig. 5, screws 18 are shown passing through smooth bores in the pillar wall and into screw-threaded sockets in the bracket. The screws for attaching the box to the bracket are denoted by 19.
The bracket constructed as above is light, strong and convenient to manipulate and serves to locatethe box in a convenient position on the machine whatever be the particular structure of the machine supporting frame.
What we claim is:
1. The box supporting bracket of skeleton angular form provided with perforated legs at its apexes for securing it to a support and with perforated extensions directed laterally from its margin for securing it to a box.
2. The box supporting bracket of triangular form provided with perforated legs of varying lengths at its apexes for securing it to a support and with perforated eX- tensions for securing it to a box.
