FRANK ROSSMEISSL, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY,
ASSIGNOR or ONE-HALF 'ro HARRY W. FOSTER, 0F NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
CHRISTMAS-TREE AND STANDARD HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 24, 1910. Serial No. 578,748.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK RossMEIssL, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Newark, county of Essex, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Christmas-Tree and Standard Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide a stand of simple construction and ready application which is adapted to rest on the floor and engage a pole or staff, as for example, the trunk of aChristmas tree and support it in an upright position.
A further object of the invention is to so construct the device that it can be readily separated into parts occupying small space and which can be readily packed for shipment.
In the accompanying sheet of drawings which forms a part of this application, the figure is a perspective of a Christmas tree holder embodying my invention.
The holder consists of three levers L L L vertically disposed and grouped around a sleeve S. The lower ends of the levers Z Z Z are bent away from the axis of the sleeve and serve as supporting legs of the holder, and the upper ends of the levers carry claws c c c which engage the tree trunk. About midway of the ends of the levers are pockets pp go through which pass fulcrum pins f f f the ends of which are cast into the walls of the pockets. The sleeve has three radially projecting hooks h h h which enter the pockets and engage the fulcrum pins, thereby connecting the levers. Thumb screws 2? t t pass through the walls of the sleeve and may be set up to engage the tree trunk below the claws.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
In a device of the class specified, the combination of a plurality of levers the upper ends of which are adapted to engage the object to be supported and the lower ends of which are adapted to serve as legs, and having pockets intermediate of their ends which contain fulcrum pins, a sleeve having radially projecting hooks entering the pockets upon which the levers are detachably fulcrumed, and screws passing through the sleeve for engaging the object to be supported, substantially as described.
Signed by me at Newark, N. J this 16th day of August, 1910.
FRANK ROSSMEISSL. Witnesses:
