UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL WILLIAM YEATS, OF MONROVIA, CALIFORNIA, ASSIG-NOR OF ONE-THIRD TO THOMAS HEZMALHALCH, OF MONROVIA, CALIFORNIA, AND ONE-THIRD TO STEPHEN ROBERTSON, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
WORK-STAND.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 6, 1920.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL VILLIAM Ynx'rs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Monrovia, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a new and useful Vork-Stand, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention has relation to work-stands of the type or character adapted to hold things connected with domestic sewing, and provides an improved construction of stand with a pin-cushion and holders in combina tion with a rotary tray carried by a central standard.
The objects of my invention are to hold and to carry in convenient arrangement, certain of the several. articles required in domestic sewing and repair work, sothat the articles may be readily found when needed,
and to provide a standard for the articles which shall be ornamental in character.
I attain these objects by my improved work-stand, an embodiment of which is shown in perspective in the accompanying drawing.
Referring to the drawing, the standard 1 is supported upon a heavy base 2, the upper end of the standard terminating in a platform 3, which carries the pin-cushion 4. The standard has centrally disposed thereon, the rotary tray 5, carryingupon its outer edge the hooks 6, upon which may be hung shears and other articles.
Upwardly extending shaft members 7 are arranged to carry spools of thread and members S are arranged for thimbles. The radial partition walls 9, extending from the central sleeve 10 of the tray, to the circular wall 11, are designed as receptacles for buttons and similar articles. The tray further provided with swing-boxes 19, which are hung on the pivots 13. The cushion 14; is arranged particularly for needles, and the hooks 15 may be employed to carry various articles.
From the foregoing it may be seen that I have provided a neat and simple device of ornamental character, which is well adapted to serve the purpose for which it is intended, but I do not desire to limit the invention to the precise construction exhibited in the drawings, my invention consisting essen tially of a supporting standard with a revoluble tray or platform disposed centrally thereon and adapted to carry various articles for use in domestic sewing, and a cushionat the top of the standard to receive and hold pins.
What is claimed is:
The combination With a standard, a heavy base supporting the standard, and a cushion at the top of the standard, of a revoluble tray member centrally disposed on the standard, a circular wall extending upwardly from the tray member, a sleeve concentric with the standard and forming a hub for the revoluble member, radial partition members extending between the sleeve and circular wall and forming a series of re ceptacles, a plurality of carriers and spoolholding pins projecting upward from the revoluble member and disposed between the circular wall and the periphery of the revoluble member, swing draw boxes mounted beneath the revoluble member, and a series of suspension hooks projecting radially from the periphery of the revoluble member and disposed alternately between the swing draw boxes.
In testimony whereof, I hereto aflix my signature, this 25th day of March, in the year 1916.
SAMUEL W'ILLIAM YEATS.
In the presence of THOMAS HEZMALHALCH, STEPHEN Ronnnrson.
