Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 20, 1911.
ratenteaiuayr, 1912. Serial N0. 609,716.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST W. MORGAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda, State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Envelope; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to envelops.
The object of the invention resides in the provision of an envelop which is so constructed that the surreptitious removal of the contents can be easily and positively detected.
With this object in view, the invention consists in the details of construction and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing lwherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the views; and in which,
Figure 1 represents an envelop blank looking at the inner face of the front and constructed in accordance with the invention; Fig. 2, a front view of the envelop showing the effect produced upon same by the removal of its contents; and Fig. 3, a transverse section through an envelop constructed in accordance with the invention, said .envelop being provided with contents which are secured to the detachable section of the front of the envelop.
Referring to the drawing, 10 indicates the front of the envelop; 11 and 12, the side flaps; 13, the bottom flap; and 14C, the closure. A portion of the front 10 is shown as dened by the perforations 15 so as to produce a weakened line and the portion so dened has its inner face provided with a coating` of adhesive material 16.
In use, the adhesive material 16 is moistened before the contents of the envelop are placed therein so that said contents will be positively secured to the portion of the front 10 which is defined by the perforations 15. When this status exists in the envelop, it will be apparent that should the envelop be surreptitiously opened and the contents removed, the connection between the contents and the portion of the front defined by the perforations 15 will be torn out and indicate such surreptitious opening and removal of the contents.
What is claimed is An envelop having its front providedV ERNEST W. MORGAN.
