ELMER DUSCHEN, 0F SILVER SPRINGS, NEW YORK.
EVENER-BAR.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELMER DUsoHnN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Silver Springs, in the county of Wyoming and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Evener-Bars, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to evener bars, doubletrees or like draft appliances, and has for an object to provide an improved form of clip or sleeve member for securing the doubletree to the draft pole.
Another object of the invention is to provide a clip which will include a combined wear plate and guide member which will serve to limit the swinging movement of the doubletree on the pole and serve as an etiicient bearing on which the doubletree may rock freely.
In the drawing, forming a portion of this specification and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the sev* eral views: Figure 1 is a sectional perspective view of a doubletree showing the ap` plication of my improved clip thereto. Fig. 2 is a top plan view showing the application of the doubletree to a draft pole. Fig. 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
The doubletreeA shown herein may be of any approved well known construction, and as illustrated, it is embraced at its center by a clip 1. This clip is preferably constructed from a single piece of metal, and at one side, it is provided with relatively adjustable superimposed ears 2. The combined guide and stop clevis 3 extends rearwardly from the clip 1, being provided at its ends with eyes 4L which are mounted between the ears 2 and operatively associated therewith through the medium of the retaining bolts 5. These bolts extend through the ears 2 and through the eyes 4, being adapted for operation so as to move the Specication of Letters Patent.

ears 2 relatively to cause the walls 6 and 7 of the clip to be securely conned against the doubletree. As a means of preventing sliding movement of the clip on the doubletree, I employ the fastening screws 8 which extend through the wall 6 or other suitable portion of the clip and into the doubletree.
A plate 9 is secured to the front wall of the clip 1 and is provided with a vertical socket 10 through which the pivotbolt l1 of the draft tongue B is extended. A wear plate 12 is secured to the top of the draft tongue B, being disposed beneath the central portion of the doubletree. Fastening bolts or like equivalent devices 13 are employed for securing the plate 12 to the pole. A guide staple 14 rises from the plate 12 rearwardly of the doubletree. This staple slidably receives the clevis 3 of the doubletree clip 1 and serves as a guide for the doubletree in its movement, and further provides a stop to limit the rocking adjustment of the doubletree on the draft pole.
I claim:
A draft pole, a doubletree extending across the pole, a clip embracing the inter mediate port-ion of the doubletree, a bolt extending through the clip and through the pole, a plurality of pairs of ears formed upon the rear of the clip, a clevis having eye portions tted between the ears, bolts extending through the ears and through the eye portions of the clevis, and a stop member secured to the pole at a point rearwardly of the doubletree and slidably receiving the said clevis and operable to limit the pivotal movements of the doubletree.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ELMER DUSCI-IEN.
