IMPROVEMENT IN PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 188,732, dated Mar-ch27, 1877; application filed January 26, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR B. FARQU- EAR, of York, in the county of York and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flows; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. I
My invention relates to improvements in plows; and consists in a clip for holding the share to the standard.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective, and "Fig. 2 a side elevation, of a plow-stock with my improved clipapplied thereto, and Fig. 3 is a perspective of the clip.
a is the beam, and b is the standard of the plow. e is-the shovel or share, which may be of any ordinary configuratiomhaving a straight portion, 6 on its upper edge adapted. to act in conjunction with the clip f, hereinafter described, for the purpose of retaining the share 6 in proper position. I
The clip f is formed of a front plate, f, having projectinglugs f f formed on either side of its upper edge, the lugs f being adapted to embrace the opposite sides of the standard b, while the plate f passes down over the share 6, so that the under surfaces f of the lugs f shall rest upon the straight portion 0 of the share 0.
The plate f is formed with a hole, f corresponding with a similar hole in the share 6, through which, and also through the standard b, is passed a bolt, 6 which is secured by a 'nut and washer at the rear face of the standard b. By this peculiar construction of the clipfit will be readily seen that with the employment of a single bolt, 0 the share will be retained rigidly in position, the plate preventing horizontal, while the lugs f prevent lateral, and the bolt 6 vertical, movement of the share 6.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The combination, with a standard, b, and a shovel or share, 0, having a straight portion, 6 as described, of a clip,f, consisting of a front plate, f and lugs f and adapted to hold the share e in position by means of a single bolt, 6 substantially as shown and described.
