Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 2, 1911.
Patented Apr. 16, 1912. Serial No. 641,915.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, ARMIN KELBER, a subject of the German Emperor, and residing at Strassburg,'Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention has reference to an improvement in toys, and relates more specifically to toy figures with articulated limbs, which in very simple manner are made to `assume different, amusing positions relal same figures 1n another position; Fig. 3
shows an edge view thereof.
The toy gures a and b, which may represent human or animal forms, may be made of any suitable material, such as cardboard, wood, metal, or the like. The limbs c and CZ are articulated to the bodies proper at e, for instance by means of freely operating eyelets or the like. The two bodies are operatively connected by the members c, each such member showing one right and one left arm respectively of the facing figures, and I call each such member a pair of arms. The respective pairs of arms are made in one piece, and to the rear of the rear pair, where the hands of boxers clasp, there is secured in suitable manner, for instance by being glued thereto, the handle or stud f.
For operating the figures the stud is grasped between thumb and first finger and the figures are stood upon a support g, for instance a table-top, so that the feet just touch the support. Upon the fingers now alternatingly rotating the stud in the one and the other direction, the figures are caused to assume the most various positions relative to each other.
Vhat I claim is 1. A toy, comprising two bodies, lower limbs freely movable thereon, a pair of connecting members jointed to said bodies, each such member consisting of one left and one right arm respectively of the facing figures, and a short operating stud rigidly secured to the rear connecting member, substantially as set forth.
2. A toy, comprising two bodies, a pair of contiguous upper limbs and pairs of lower limbs jointed to said bodies, and an operating stud rigidly secured to one of the said contiguous pairs of upper limbs, substantially as set forth.
3. A toy, comprising two bodies, respectively contiguous pairs of arms and independent lower limbs jointed to said bodies, and an operating stud rigidly secured to, and rectangularly extending from, the rear pair of said contiguous limbs, substantially as set forth.
4. A toy, comprising two bodies, contiguous pairs of arms and lower limbs jointed to said bodies, and an operating stud rigidly secured to the middle of, and rectangularly extending from, the rear pair of said contiguous limbs, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ARMIN KELBER.
