rlhis invention relates to an improvement in corsets ,consistingof'the matters hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

The invention relates particularly to the type of corset'which has'the lacing in front,

In the use of my improved corset,ithe corset body is placed aboutv the body in the usual Way, and the free' margin-.17? oi the shield member attached to the' corset body. .106 .The shield member is` made .confder'ably Wider than the intended spacebetwe'en the. parts of the corsetbody to which itis connected 'so that when its free margin is hooked to the corsetbody thecorset is loose enough on thev body of thev wearer for easy adjustment, both of the position of the corset and of the part ot the body of the .wearer confined Within it. 1, In a corsetF in combination with a body opening' in front and having eyelets adjastilening strip spaced from said margin and having eyelets, lacing connecting the eyelets of said stiienixng strip with the eyelets adjacent said margin ot' the corset body, comcting .members of attaching devices carried respectively by said stillening strip and the other margin of said corset body, a shield member adapted to liebe-- neath said lacing, said shield member being permanently attached at one lateral margin to the inner surface of the corset body along a line spaced from one margin thereof7 and means for detachably connecting the other lateral margin of said shield to the inner surface of said corset body at points spaced from the other margin of said corset body.
