MATTHEW FRANKLIN ALLEN, 0F NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.
RANGE WARMING-CLOSET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed May 12, 1911.
Patented Dec. 5, 1911.
Serial No. 628,735.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MATTHEW F. ALLEN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Nashville, in the county of Davidson and State of Tennessee, have invented a new and Improved Range WVarming- Closet, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description;
My invention relates to warming closets for ranges, and it has for its object to provide one disposed in the rear of a wall member connected with the range, it being possible to reach the closet through an opening in the wall member. The wall member is adapted to be disposed against the wall of a room with the flue from the range at the side of the closet and in the rear of the wall member. This construction permits the free use of the top of the range at the same time that the closets are in use, without it being necessary to sacrifice any more room for the range than is the case with the ranges now in use.
Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following complete s ecification, in which the preferred form 0 the invention is disclosed.
In the drawings, similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the range; Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view of the rear wall, the closets and the flue, and Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view showing the rear wall and the top of the range.
By referring to the drawings it will be seen that the body 5 of the range is of the usual construction, and that there is a vertically-disposed wall member 6 at the rear of the body, this wall member 6 being adapted to be disposed against a wall of a room and having one or more openings 7. Connected with the range and extending upwardly behind the wall member 6, there is a flue 8. Closet compartments 9 are disposed behind the wall member 6, one at each side of the flue 8, these closet compartments 9 being secured to the wall member 6 around the openings 7, so that they may be reached through the said openings. Angular side members 11 are provided, which are secured to the sides of the wall member 6, and which support the warming closets 12, the closet compartments 9 and the warming closets 12 forming a cabinet closet.
It will be seen that as the range has been constructed it does not take up any more of the floor-space in a kitchen than is the case with the ranges that are now in use, and that as the closet compartments 9 are disposed at the rear of the rear wall 6, utensils may be disposed in the said closet compartments 9 without in any way preventing the free use of the top of the body 5 of the range.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
In combination with a range, an upwardly-disposed wall at the rear of the body of the range and adapted to be disposed against a wall of a room, an upwardly-extending flue connected with the range and disposed behind the said rear wall, there being an opening in the rear wall at one side of the flue, and a closet compartment disposed behind the rear wall at one side of the fine and secured to the rear wall around the opening. I
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MATTHEW FRANKLIN ALLEN.
