WALL-CABI N ET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 577,204, dated February 16, 1897.
Application filed May 17,1895. Serial No. 549,721. (No model.)

Vof the side Walls of the room in which it is placed.
The object of my invention is a toilet-cabinet of simple and convenient construction,
its arrangement being such that the mirror may be used byall the occupants of the office, irrespective of their height, and its interior conveniently divided into compartment-receptacles for toilet articles, soiled linen, dto.
lWIy invention further relates to a cabinet whose interior is ventilated.
The accompanying drawings will serve to illustrate my invention.
Figure l is a View in perspective of the cabinet with the door opened, showing a tilting mirror and the general arrangement of the interior of the cabinet. section. Fig. 3 is atransverse section taken on the line @c x of Fig. 2 and shows t-he ventilatin g-orifices.
Referring to the drawings, A and A, B and C, and D and E represent, respectively, the sides, top7 bottom, and front and back walls of the cabinet.
The body or frame of the cabinet may be given any convenient shape. That shown in the drawings is the one which I prefer.
The front wall of the cabinet D is divided into three parts, D representing a door provided with a tilting mirror F. The mirrorF is pivoted at f to the frame G. The outside of the mirror, as shown in Fig. 2, has a wooden back F. The object of arranging the door with a tilting mirror and a wooden back has a twofold purpose. p
First. In shipping cabinets where the mirror is placed in the front of the cabinet it is liable to be broken. This objection is avoided Fig. 2 is a verticalV D2'represents a hinged door which communicates with the lower portion of the cabinet.
The cabinet is usually supported on brackets D3. It, however, may be attached to the wall -in any suitable manner.
' H represents an adjustable bail or towelsupport connected to the bottom of the cabinet.
The interior of the cabinet is divided into three parts I I I2. The part I may be further suitably divided by means of shelves J. I is separated from I by the hinged door K. The receptacle I is designed for holding soiled linen'. The part I2 may be used for holding combs, brushes, Sponges, dac.
As combs, brushes, and soiled linen are apt to mold when put in a closed cabinet, I provide means for Ventilating the interior of the cabinet. This means consists of the openings L, which communicate between the exterior of the bottom C of the cabinet, the compartments I I2 l', and a space M between the back of the cabinet E and the wall N to which the cabinet is attached. The air passing in through these openings carries off the moisture.
The general arrangement of the cabinet, as set forth, is that which I have found in practice to be the best.
I wish it understood that I do not limit myself to the particular size of the compartments or divisions of the cabinet shown. Variations may be made to said cabinet without in any wise departing from the intent of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- In a wall-cabinet, a frame containing partitio`ns and means for fastening said frame upon the wall at a distance therefrom, said frame being provided with perforations commnnieating with the space between the frame and Wall; in Combination with two ndepend ent doors inelosing said frame, the upper Ydoor being` hinged to the Vertical side of said frame and the lower door being hinged horlzontally, a mirror pvoted horizontally in said upper door and a protective backing for said mirror, said mirror being so'arranged that When said upper door is Closed the mirror is protected and nelosed thereby, substantially Io as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of tWo Witnesses.
