HARNESS-BUCKLE.
Specicaton of Letters Patent.
Patented Got. lil,
Application filed April 29, 1911. Serial No. 624,16l.
fe all whom it' may Concern:
Be it known that I, )mit SIGNORELLI, :i
the openings 7 and 8 of the plate l, the back hand S) passes. The plate l terminates at its citizen .of the United States, residing ut lower portion ut euch side thereof into up- ;imeliu, in the parish of St. Uur)7 und Stute i of Louisiana, have invented u new und usctui Hurncssdhicklc; und l do hereby declare the following to be u full. clear, und exact description ot' the invention, such us .will enable others skilled in the nrt to which ity uppertnins to muke and use the sume.
lf his invention relates to n. new und useful buckle, and more. particularly to bncleband or harness buckles.
The object of the invention is to produce u buckle which is simple in construction und which may be locked und unlocked readily.
further-object of the invention is to provide o 'buckle for bark-bowls including mcuns for taking up the slack in chain traces, said means being .provided with means for locking the'buckle at the proper desired loceion on the buck band.
the drawings, there is only disclosed one form ot the present invention, but in practical fields, this form muy require elterations, to which the applicant is entitled, provided the alterations muy be made Within the scope of what is claimed.
The invention comprises further 'features und combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings-und claimed.
In the drawings z-Figure l is ai Vview in perspective, showing the, application of the improved buckle us applied to u back band. Fig. 2 is u sectional view on line 2-2 ot' Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line ---Zl of Fig. l.
Referring more purticulurly to the drawings, l designates the base platte 'of thc buckle, which may he made of any suit-able metal und by any suitable method. In ythe presentapplicution it is to be understood, that this hase plate, is stamped from sheet metal. The roer face of the base plate is provided with s depression 2 to receive the back band which passes through the buckle. Secured on the face of the base plate by means of the rivets 3 is an additional plate 4, through openings 5 and 6 of -which and wurdly turned hooks l0 having openings ll,
5 while the upper portion of the plate 4 is provided with oppositely arrnnged outstanding cnrs l2 having apertures 13. An oscillating plate lil is plvoted in the apertures of the ears, and is provided with a serrated edge 15 to engage the back baud so as to hold the buckle in place thereon. The scrruted'edge binds the buck bund between it und the bars '16. The oscillating plate 14. is provided with downwardly extending 'portions l? which termi'nnte into right angled extensions 18, which pass through the Openings l1 of thc'hooks l0, there being suitable means -lJ to prevent accidental Withdrawal of the right angled portions of the plate-14. To withdraw the right angled portions of the plate 14: u slight downward pressure should oe applied on the hooks l0, so that when :in upper pressure is applied on the plate le, the right-angled extending portions will be Afree to be drawn through the opening 1l.
The object in providing the right angled extending portions is to provide means to prevent the accident-ul displacement of the chain und trace, two links 22 of which are in engagement with the hooks 1G, thus making a loop in the truce, in order to take up the slack therein.
lt will be observed that the plate 14 is provided with means, serving smultzino ously for holding the ,chain locked in .position und the buckle locked on the back-band.
The invention having been set orth, what
- is claimed as new and useful, is
in combination, a base member consisting of two riveted plates having openings to receive a losokdoand, one of said plates tern-'1inating into upwardly extending hooks hoving openings, said hooks adapted to engage through two links of o chain truce for shortening the same, ears projectin outwardly from one of the plates, an oscillating plete pivoted in the ears and provided With e. serrated1 edge to engage the back-band, said oscillating plate having right angled free l name to this specllcatlon in the presence of portions to extend through the openings of two Subscrlblng Witnesses. lthehool's, right zulngled fleo portionsv NICK SIGNORELLL loving means to abut the hooks to prevent ancldcntal displacement. of the right angled portions tl'nough the openings.
ln testimony whereof I have Signed my Witnesses M. P. PALMER, CITAS. A. BOBBINS.
