HAME-TUG.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 788,455, dated April 25, 1905.

Application filed December 28, 1903. Serial No. 186,779.

To all whom it may concern..-

Be it known that I, J APHET S. (JUssoN, a citizen of the United States, residingat Dekalb, in the county of Dekalb and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Hame- Tug, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to makeand use the same.

My invention relates to hame-tugs in which the coupling-clip is jointedto the tug-body and to several novel features of construction.

The objects of my invention are to provide a cheap and durable construction.

In the drawings which form a part of this specification, Figure 1 is an edge view of my improved hame-tug. Fig. 2 is a face view of the same. Fig. 3 is a cross-section on line 3 3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a view of the blank from which a part of the hame-tug is formed. Fig.

5 is a face view of another part of the hameug; and Fig. 6 is a cross-section taken on the same line as Fig. 3, but on an enlarged scale and showing a modification.

Similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

The clip 10 is provided with the eye 11, by which it is attached to the hame, and is formed of a metal strap bent into a flattened loop with the ends overlapping and riveted to the center portion of the strap, so as to form the eye 11 at one end and a loop 12 at the remaining end. The clip 10 is attached to the hametug 13 by means of a rectangular link 14, which passes through the loop 12 on the clip 10 and through the loop 15 on the hame-tug 13.

The hame-tug 13 is made of a base-plate 16 and a clamping-plate 17. The base-plate 16 has one of its ends folded back unto itself to form the loop 15 and its other end folded back unto itself in a like manner, forming the loop 18, to which the ordinary buckle 19 is secured. The ends of the base-plate 16 are securely fastened by rivets or otherwise. The clampingplate 17 is secured to the plate 16, preferably by the same means which secures the ends of the plate 16, and the loops 20 are firmly clamped and held in position between the plates 16 and 17. To insure a firm contact 22 also pass through the edges of the leather 23.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is i 1. In ahame-tug the combination of a sheetmetal base-plate, having its ends bent back on itself and provided with integral lateral-extending tongues near its two edges; a sheetmetal clamping-plate provided with perforations to receive said tongues; and a loop having its ends between said two plates; the ends of said base-plate being riveted to said plate and said tongues being bent down unto the clamping-plate to clamp said loop between said two plates.

2. In a hame-tug the combination of asheetmetal base-plate, having its ends bent back on itself and provided with integral lateral-extending tongues near its two edges; a sheet metal clamping-plate provided with perforations to receive said tongues; and a leather covering over the base-plate having its edges extending between the said two plates, said edges provided with perforations to receive said tongues; the ends of said base-plate and clamping-plate being riveted to said baseplate and said tongues being bent down unto said clamping-plate to clamp the said edges of leather between the said two plates.
