Is disclosed a method of joining by welding sheet billets of metallic composite materials, at which prior to welding on the surfaces to be welded of each edge at least one cladding layer is applied. Joining for welding of billets is made along the cladding layer. For the purpose of reduction of material consumption and increase of connection strength, after putting of cladding layer, at least, one of the edges is bent in the direction of composite material. Then the bent part is removed, which projects above the surface of billet, flush with it and the billets are joined with arrangement of cladding layer turned to the source of heating.
