Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to reinforce the welding part of container, pipe, etc., made of Pt, so that no deformation and crack will be formed, by forge welding a Pt tape having wave-shaped edges and a uniform width for the total length to the welding part.
CONSTITUTION: For, instance, glass pot 3 is manufactured by welding the lower edge of cylindrical body 2 which is manufactured by butt welding on both edges of a rectangulr Pt plate, onthe upper edge of plate 1 which is made by forming a Pt disc. Then, Pt tape 8 having the same width throughout its length and wave-shaped edges 7, 7' at both sides is forge welded on welding part 4, 4' of pot 3. As the result of this forge welding, since the boundary with tape 8 is not in the direction normal to the direction of tensile stress, the deformation stress is dispersed even when the boundary becomes thinner and more load is applied on it. Therefore, lowering of tensile strength is prevented and no deformation and crack is formed.
