Изобретение касается устройства для ультразвуковой дефектоскопии горячего прокатного металла во время процесса прокатки в одной из нескольких расположенных одна за другой прокатных клетей прокатного стана, который состоит как минимум из двух валков, которые оставляют между собой промежуток, причем валки оборудованы ультразвуковыми поисковыми головками, расположенными так, что части самого тела валка служат трактом для прохождения ультразвуковых волн к прокатываемому металлу, который подвергается дефектоскопии, в межвалковом промежутке.
