Abstract

A method to grow soybeans in an irrigated crop rotation includes soil cultivation with disk implements, applying a recommended rate of mineral fertilizers under tillage, early-spring harrowing, presowing cultivation, sowing, applying herbicides, and maintaining the optimum soil moisture in the course of vegetation of the plants. The soil preparation is started by forming an organomineral screen (a mulching layer). The screen consists of shredded straw, a preceding crop (winter wheat) and green mass of stubble oil radish (green manure). A reduced rate of mineral fertilizers (N30P60) is also applied under nonmoldboard cultivation. Prewatering soil moisture is differentiated according to interstage periods of the development of plants, in particular from the emergence up to budding there is 60 % of the least moisture capacity, from the budding up to grain filling (a critical period) 80 % and from the grain filling up to full maturity of the grain 60 % of the least moisture capacity in a 0.5 m calculated soil layer.
