Abstract

Description
本發明關於一種被以兩種不同的聚酯反應之多胺物種(如聚乙亞胺之多胺)之分散劑,及一種製造該分散劑之方法。
多胺衍生分散劑通常被認為有效作為顏料分散劑。這些分散劑之立體安定鏈的組成物及分子量對於將固體有效分散於連續介質(極性及非極性)中為重要的。許多種調配物,如墨水、塗漆、研磨基料、及塑膠材料,均需要分散劑以將微粒固體均勻分布在有機介質中。已知基於聚酯聚合物之分散劑提供如在各種溶劑介質中的較寬廣的溶解度、及改良流體性和光學性質的益處。現在希望顏料分散液與不同的墨水或塗料調配物相容。
現已發現,將多胺以包括特定單體單元(如乳酸交酯)之聚酯鏈接枝為困難的。使用製造此聚合物之傳統方法無法製造含有聚酯鏈以鹽與醯胺鍵聯的混合物鍵聯之多胺分散劑聚合物,因為副反應產生不欲的產物。納入這些單體物種及具有鹽與醯胺鍵聯的混合物之分散劑可利於分散劑性能,因此及包括這些分散劑之調配物的光學性質。
本發明提供一種含有聚酯鏈之新穎分散劑聚合物,該聚酯鏈包括衍生自乳酸交酯、乙交酯、乳酸、或羥乙酸單體的聚酯化反應之單體。這些分散劑聚合物出乎意料地將固體有效分散於連續介質中。本發明之分散劑具有以下結構:

製造本發明分散劑之方法包括將兩種不同的聚酯以多胺物種反應。該方法的步驟包括提供多胺物種(MA),提供第一聚酯(上述的PE1),其中第一聚酯不含衍生自乳酸交酯、乙交酯、乳酸、或羥乙酸之單體,然後在高於100℃的溫度將PE1以MA反應,其中第一聚酯以至少10莫耳百分比之醯胺鍵附接多胺物種而形成(PE1)p

為了形成分散液,可將該分散劑聚合物在連續介質中混合微粒固體材料,以形成分散液,其然後可被用於如塗料、墨水、塗漆、複合橡膠或塑膠等材料。
在以下本發明之詳細說明中,術語烴基指單價烴基,其可視情況包括習知或指定量的其他雜原子(如O與N),如該基中每2個或每10個碳原子有1個氧及/或氮,但是較佳為僅有碳與氫。術語伸烴基指二價烴基,其可視情況包括其他雜原子,如O與N,如烴基所定義。

MA可為線形或分支。線形聚乙亞胺可藉聚(N-醯基)烷亞胺之水解而製備,如例如Takeo Saegusa等人在Macromolecules, 1972,第5卷,第4470頁所揭述。分子量不同的分支聚乙亞胺由BASF及Nihon Shokubai市售。分子量不同的聚烯丙胺與聚(N-烷基)烯丙胺由Nitto Boseki市售。分子量不同的聚乙烯胺由Mitsubishi Kasai市售。聚(丙亞胺)樹枝狀聚合物由DSM Fine Chemicals市售,及聚(醯胺基胺)樹枝狀聚合物為得自Aldrich Chemical Co.之“Starburst”樹枝狀聚合物。在一具體實施例中,MA為聚(C2-6-烷亞胺)及/或聚乙亞胺。
在一具體實施例中,MA可藉由以下而被修改:將其部分的一級及/或二級胺基以酯類(如乙酸乙酯或丁酯)、異氰酸酯類(如苯基異氰酸酯)、內酯類(如己內酯與戊內酯)、酐類(如琥珀酐或順丁烯二酐或苯二甲酐)、環狀碳酸酯類(如碳酸伸乙酯)、(甲基)丙烯酸酯類(如丙烯酸乙酯或丙烯酸2-羥基乙酯)、或環氧化物類(如苯基環氧丙基醚)反應,同時確保經修改多胺仍有未修改的一級及/或二級胺基,因此仍為胺形式。
在另一具體實施例中,MA可為聚乙亞胺。聚乙亞胺可藉由將NH單元之一個或以上的質子以C2-4伸烷氧基單元取代而修改。聚乙亞胺可藉烷氧化反應使用C2-4環氧烷(如環氧乙烷、環氧丙烷、環氧丁烷、或其混合物)修改。烷氧化聚乙亞胺之實例由BASF及Nihon Shokubai市售。在此具體實施例中,為了形成在此揭述的分散劑聚合物,如此修改的MA仍含有未修改且仍為胺形式的一級及/或二級胺基。

PE1及PE2之合成亦可藉已知或未來發展的任何方法完成而不背離本發明之範圍。
合適的羥基羧酸之指定實例為蓖麻油酸、12-羥基硬脂酸、6-羥基己酸、5-羥基戊酸、12-羥基十二碳酸、5-羥基十二碳酸、5-羥基癸酸、4-羥基癸酸、10羥基十一碳酸。
可用於本發明之二羥基單羧酸的指定實例包括2,2-貳(羥基甲基)丁酸與2,2-貳(羥基甲基)丙酸。
內酯之實例較佳為視情況經C1-4烷基取代ε-己內酯、視情況經C1-4烷基取代δ-戊內酯、與β-丙內酯。
合適的二醇之指定實例包括伸烷二醇,如乙二醇、丙二醇、新戊二醇、1,4-丁二醇、1,6-己二醇、順與反1,2-與1,4-環己烷二甲醇;具有醚鍵聯之二醇,如二乙二醇、二丙二醇、三丙二醇、與三乙二醇;聚伸烷二醇,如聚乙二醇、聚丙二醇、聚丁二醇、MW小於1,000之聚乙二醇與聚丙二醇的混合嵌段及無規共聚物(得自BASF之Pluronic™與reverse Pluronic™)。
合適的二元酸、二酯、及酐之指定實例包括順丁烯二酐、琥珀酐、戊二酸、反丁烯二酸、丙二酸、己二酸、癸二酸、苯二甲酐、庚二酸、二聚物脂肪酸及其氫化版本,和環己烷二羧酸酐。
用以合成PE1或PE2之單羧酸的實例包括C1-25羧酸,其可為飽和、不飽和、分支、烷基、或芳基,且可經C1-4烷氧基或鹵素取代。指定實例包括丙酸、油酸、棕櫚酸、硬脂酸、芥酸、月桂酸、2-乙基己酸、9,11-與9,12-亞麻油酸、9,12,15-亞麻仁油酸、松脂酸、甲氧基乙酸、2,2-二甲基丁酸、及己酸。
用以合成PE1或PE2之單醇的實例包括C1-25醇,其可為飽和、不飽和、分支、烷基、或芳基,且可經C1-4烷氧基或鹵素取代。指定實例包括丁醇、己醇、及由Sasol以商標名ISOFOL™市售之醇。
合適的聚醚之指定實例包括聚(乙二醇)甲基醚、聚(丙二醇)丁基醚。
在式I中,p及q均為至少1且p+q在2至800之間,例如4至200。p對q的相對比例為90:10至10:90,例如在50:50至20:80之間。
本發明之分散劑係使用新穎的方法製造,其包含以下步驟:
(1)提供在此揭述的多胺物種(MA)。

在一具體實施例中,式I之分散劑可進一步被官能化而對指定要求調適其性質及應用性能。下述這些修改反應可在下列各種試劑與多胺物種在以上詳述中尚未被聚酯基(PE1及PE2)反應的胺之間發生。任何剩餘胺基之修改可以所屬技術領域者已知的方式發生。當例如胺基會與其中併有顏料分散液或糊體且造成絮凝的黏合劑系統反應時,希望有此種修改。

本發明之一目的為提供可改良色度或其他的著色性質,增加微粒固體負載,及/或形成改良最終組成物的亮度之分散液之化合物。其係同時亦產生黏度降低,分散液安定性良好,粒度減小且粒度分布減小,霧值降低,光澤改良,及噴射性提高(尤其是當組成物為黑色時)之組成物而完成。本發明之組成物亦可在周圍儲存及高溫儲存條件下安定,而降低最終塗料之變色/黃化。
本發明之聚合物在此可作為用於各種小粒子(如可懸浮顏料及微粒)於各種極性及非極性介質的分散液之分散劑。該各種微粒、分散劑、與連續相的組成物可作為墨水、塗料、塗漆,及著色墨水、塗料、與塗漆用之研磨基料。因此,本發明亦包括含有在此揭述的本發明分散劑聚合物之顏料分散液或塗料、塗漆、墨水、複合橡膠、或複合塑膠。
因此,當使用分散劑將微粒固體分散於非極性介質時,較佳為使用一種或以上的含C7-17
-(伸)烷基之羥基羧酸。當希望使用分散劑將微粒固體分散於極性介質時,較佳為一種或以上且尤其是所有的羥基羧酸或其內酯均含C1-6
-伸烷基。
[產業上之利用可能性]
存在於該組成物中的微粒固體可為在相關溫度實質上不溶於有機介質且希望其以細微分割形式安定於其中之任何無機或有機固態材料。該微粒固體可為顆粒材料、纖維、板之形式,或粉末形式,經常為吹製粉末。在一具體實施例中,該微粒固體為顏料。

在一具體實施例中,存在於本發明分散液中的有機介質為塑膠材料,及在另一具體實施例中為有機液體。該有機液體可為非極性或極性有機液體。術語「極性」關於有機液體表示有機液體可形成中至強鍵,如Crowley等人在Journal of Paint Technology,第38卷,1966,第269頁,標題為“A Three Dimensional Approach to Solubility”之文章所述。此有機液體通常氫鍵數為5或以上,如上述文章所定義。

該有機液體可為多元醇,即具有兩個或以上的羥基之有機液體。在一具體實施例中,該多元醇包括α-ω二元醇或α-ω二元醇乙氧化物。
在一具體實施例中,該非極性有機液體為含有脂肪族基、芳香族基之化合物、或其混合物。該非極性有機液體包括未鹵化芳香族烴(例如甲苯與二甲苯)、鹵化芳香族烴(例如氯苯、二氯苯、氯甲苯)、未鹵化脂肪族烴(例如含有六個或以上的碳原子之完全及部分飽和線形與分支脂肪族烴)、鹵化脂肪族烴(例如二氯甲烷、四氯化碳、氯仿、三氯乙烷)、及天然非極性有機物(例如植物油、葵花油、菜子油、亞麻仁油、萜烯、與甘油酯)。

在本發明之一具體實施例中,本發明之分散劑聚合物可用於塑膠材料。在一具體實施例中,該塑膠材料可為熱固性樹脂。可用於本發明之熱固性樹脂包括當加熱、催化、或接受紫外線、雷射、紅外線、陽離子、電子束、或微波照射時進行化學反應,且變成相當難熔之樹脂。熱固性樹脂中的典型反應包括不飽和雙鍵之氧化,涉及環氧基/胺、環氧基/羰基、環氧基/羥基之反應,環氧基與路易士酸或路易士鹼、多異氰酸酯/羥基、胺基樹脂/羥基部分之反應,聚丙烯酸酯之自由基反應,環氧樹脂與乙烯基醚之陽離子性聚合,及矽醇縮合。不飽和樹脂之實例包括由一種或以上的二元酸或酐與一種或以上的二元醇之反應所製造的聚酯樹脂。此樹脂以反應性單體(如苯乙烯或乙烯基甲苯)的混合物而市售,且經常稱為鄰苯二甲酸系樹脂及間苯二甲酸系樹脂。進一步實例包括使用二環戊二烯(DCPD)作為聚酯鏈中的共反應物之樹脂。進一步實例亦包括雙酚A二環氧丙基醚與不飽和羧酸(如甲基丙烯酸)的反應產物,繼而以在苯乙烯中的溶液供應,通常稱為乙烯酯樹脂。

該組成物一般含有1至95重量百分比之微粒固體,精確量依固體本性而定,且該量依固體本性、及固體與極性有機液體的相對密度而定。例如按組成物總重量計,其中固體為有機材料(如有機顏料)之組成物在一具體實施例中含有15至60重量百分比之該固體,而其中固體為無機材料(如無機顏料、填料、或增量劑)之組成物在一具體實施例中含有40至90重量百分比之該固體。
該含有有機液體之組成物可藉任何用以製備分散液之習知方法製備。因此可將固體、有機介質、與分散劑聚合物以任何次序混合,然後將混合物進行機械處理而將固體粒子縮小成合適尺寸,例如藉高速混合、球磨、籃式研磨、粒磨、石磨、砂磨、磨耗研磨、二或三輥研磨、塑磨,直到形成分散液。或者可獨立或與有機介質或分散劑一起處理固體而縮小其粒度,然後添加其他成分,及將混合物攪動而提供組成物。該組成物亦可藉由研磨乾燥固體與分散劑然後添加液態介質,或者在顏料沖洗法中在液態介質中混合固體與分散劑而製造。
本發明之組成物特別適合液態分散液。在一具體實施例中,此分散液組成物包含:
a)0.5至80份之微粒固體;
b)0.1至79.6份之式I之聚合物/分散劑;及
c)19.9至99.4份之有機液體,
其中所有的相對份均為重量比,且該量(a)+(b)+(c)=100。
如果需要包含微粒固體及乾燥形式的式1之分散劑的組成物,則該有機液體一般為揮發性,使得其可易於藉簡單的分離手段(如蒸發)從微粒固體移除。在一具體實施例中,該組成物包含有機液體。
如果乾燥組成物本質上由式1之分散劑及微粒固體組成,則其一般含有按微粒固體重量計為至少0.2%、至少0.5%、或至少1.0%之式1之分散劑。在一具體實施例中,該乾燥組成物含有按微粒固體重量計為不大於100%、不大於50%、不大於20%、或不大於10重量百分比之式1之分散劑。
如在此所揭示,本發明之組成物適合用於製備研磨基料,其中將微粒固體於有機液體中在式1之化合物存在下研磨。
因此,本發明之一又進一步態樣提供包含微粒固體、有機液體、及式I之聚合物的研磨基料。
一般而言,按研磨基料總重量計,該研磨基料含有20至70重量百分比之微粒固體。在一具體實施例中,該微粒固體不少於研磨基料之10或不少於20重量百分比。此研磨基料可視情況含有在研磨之前或之後添加的黏合劑。
在一具體實施例中,該黏合劑為在有機液體揮發時可黏合該組成物之聚合材料。
該黏合劑為包括天然及合成材料之聚合材料。在一具體實施例中,該黏合劑包括聚(甲基)丙烯酸酯、聚苯乙烯系、聚酯、聚胺基甲酸酯、醇酸、多醣(如纖維素、硝基纖維素)、及天然蛋白質(如酪蛋白)。該黏合劑可為硝基纖維素。在一具體實施例中,按微粒固體之量計,該黏合劑以超過100%,超過200%,超過300%,或超過400%存在於組成物中。
選用黏合劑在研磨基料中之量可在寬廣限值內改變,但是一般為不少於研磨基料的連續/液相之10%,且經常為不少於20重量百分比。在一具體實施例中,該黏合劑之量為不大於研磨基料的連續/液相之50%或不大於40重量百分比。
分散劑在研磨基料中之量依微粒固體之量而定,但是一般為研磨基料之0.5至5重量百分比。

將己內酯(46.22份)、戊內酯(40.55份)、月桂酸(27.04份)、與2,2-貳(羥基甲基)丁酸(10.00份)裝載到反應容器及加熱到120℃。在120℃經過1小時後,裝載丁氧化鋯(IV)溶液(0.37份)及將溫度提高到180℃。在54小時後停止反應而產生酸值為22.66毫克KOH/克之黃色液體。
聚酯中間物 2 PE2-1 :
將己內酯(3560份)、乳酸交酯(1746份)、與月桂酸(694份)裝載到反應容器,及在氮下攪拌加熱到100℃。裝載丁氧化鋯(IV)溶液(42份)及將溫度提高到180℃。在7小時後停止反應而產生棕色液體。PE2-2 :

- 一種藉由將兩種不同的聚酯以多胺物種反應而製備聚酯分散劑之方法,其中該方法的步驟包含: (a) 提供數量平均分子量為300至100,000克/莫耳之多胺物種(MA); (b) 提供第一聚酯(PE1),其中第一聚酯不含衍生自乳酸交酯、乙交酯、乳酸、或羥乙酸之單體單元; (c) 在高於100℃的溫度將PE1以MA反應,其中第一聚酯以至少10莫耳百分比之醯胺鍵附接多胺物種而形成(PE1)p -MA; (d) 提供含有衍生自乳酸交酯、乙交酯、乳酸、或羥乙酸單體之聚酯化反應的單體重複單元之第二聚酯(PE2); (e) 在低於100℃的溫度將PE2以(PE1)p -MA反應,而在PE2與(PE1)p -MA之間形成鹽鍵聯而形成(PE1)p -MA-(PE2)q 。
- 如請求項13之方法,其中p與q均為至少1,p+q為2至800之間,及p對q的相對比例為50:50至20:80。
- 如請求項13或14之方法,其中PE1具有式R1 -(Q)b -[OR3 -C(=O)]n -(X)z ,其中 (i) R1 為H-或R2 C(=O)-,其中R2 為含有1至25個碳原子之烴鏈, (ii) Q衍生自具有4至15個碳原子之二羥基單羧酸,且在聚酯鏈中形成分支點,及b為0、1、或2, (iii) R3 為含有3至25個碳原子之烴鏈,或-R4 -OC(=O)R5 -,其中R4 為含有2至30個碳原子之烴鏈,及R5 為含有1至20個碳原子之烴鏈, (iv) n為3至43,及 (v) z為0或1,其中當z為1時X為O- 且PE1以鹽鍵聯附接MA,及當z為0時PE1以醯胺鍵附接MA。
- 如請求項13至15中任一項之方法,其中PE2為式R6 -(T)m -(Q)b -(V)r -(Z)y -O-之聚酯鏈,其中 (i) y為0或1,其中當y為0時,R6 為H-或R2 C(=O)-,當y為1時,R6 為R2 O-或R2 O-(CH2 CHR7 O)s -,及s為1至45,且Z衍生自多磷酸,及R7 為H或CH3 或CH2 CH3 ; (ii) Q衍生自具有4至15個碳原子之二羥基單羧酸,且在聚酯鏈中形成分支點,及b為0、1、或2, (iii) T為衍生自乳酸交酯、乙交酯、乳酸、或羥乙酸單體之聚酯化反應的單體重複單元,及m為1至50, (iv) V為衍生自具有4至12個碳原子之內酯單體或具有4至20個碳原子之羥基羧酸單體之聚酯化反應的重複單元, (v) r為0至30。
- 如請求項13至16中任一項之方法,其中步驟(c)包含將PE1以MA反應2至72小時。
- 如請求項13至17中任一項之方法,其中步驟(e)包含將PE2以(PE1)p -MA反應1至24小時。
- 如請求項13至18中任一項之方法,其進一步包含在實行步驟(d)之前將步驟(c)的反應產物[(PE1)p -MA]冷卻到低於100℃。
- 如請求項13至19中任一項之方法,其中PE1以至少50莫耳百分比之醯胺鍵附接MA。
- 如請求項13至20中任一項之方法,其中PE1以90莫耳百分比之醯胺鍵附接MA。
- 如請求項13至21中任一項之方法,其中MA的數量平均分子量為600至50,000克/莫耳。
- 如請求項13至22中任一項之方法,其中MA選自於由具有3個以上的氮原子之非聚合烷胺、聚乙烯胺、或聚烯丙胺所組成的群組。
- 如請求項13至23中任一項之方法,其中MA包含聚乙亞胺或經修改聚乙亞胺。
- 如請求項13至24中任一項之方法,其進一步包含步驟(f): 將(PE1)p -MA-(PE2)q 以(a)異氰酸酯、內酯、環氧基、酐、環狀碳酸酯、(甲基)丙烯酸酯經由麥可(Michael)加成反應,及/或具有與一級或二級胺反應形成鹽或共價鍵之基之聚合物種,(b)可將胺基轉化成氧化氮之氧化物種,(c)鹽化劑進行反應,或者(d)將該多胺物種或含該多胺物種之分散劑之三級胺基以四級化試劑進行反應,而形成四級化胺基。
- 如請求項13至25中任一項之方法,其中Q衍生自選自2,2-貳(羥基甲基)丁酸、2,2-貳(羥基甲基)丙酸、或其混合物之二羥基單羧酸。
- 一種如請求項13至26中任一項之方法的反應產物之用途,其係作為分散劑。
- 塗漆、墨水、或複合橡膠或塑膠,其包含分散的微粒固體、連續介質、及分散劑化合物,其中該分散劑包含如請求項1至12中任一項之分散劑。
- 塗漆、墨水、或複合橡膠或塑膠,其包含分散的微粒固體、連續介質、及分散劑化合物,其中該分散劑係/可藉如請求項13至26中任一項之方法得到。
