Abstract
The invention provides a steel material for ships, which practicably has an excellent corrosion-resistance even if anticorrosion means such as coating or electrolysis corrosion protection are not carried out on its inner face, and it is specifically useful when taken as a raw material for fuel tanks of a tanker. The steel material for ship of the invention respectively contains 0.01 to 0.20 percent by mass of C, 0.1 to 0.5 percent by mass of Si, 0.6 to 1.8 percent by mass of Mn, 0.0005 to 0.02 percent by mass of P, 0.0005 to 0.01 percent by mass of S; 0.01 to 0.10 percent by mass of A1, 0.1 to 0.5 percent by mass of Ni, 0.01 to 0.3 percent by mass of Cr, 0.001 to 0.05 percent by mass of Ti, 0.0003 to 0.004 percent by mass of Ca and 0.0020 to 0.008 percent by mass of N, and the residual portion is iron and inevitable impurities.
