Uçucu yanabilir madde içeriği yüksek kok üretimini geliştirmek için bir işlem ve tertibat açıklanmaktadır. İşlem örneğin bir koklaştırıcı besleme stoğunun bir koklaştırma sıcaklığına ısıtılmasıyla ısıtılmış koklaştırıcı besleme stoğunun üretilmesini; ısıtılmış koklaştırıcı besleme stoğunun bir söndürme ortamıyla temas ettirilmesiyle ısıtılmış koklaştırıcı besleme stoğunun sıcaklığının düşürülmesini ve söndürülmüş besleme stoğunun üretilmesini; söndürülmüş besleme stoğunun bir koklaştırma tamburuna beslenmesini; söndürülmüş besleme stoğunun koklaştırma tamburunda termal kırma işlemine tabi tutulmasıyla (a) parçalanmış buhar ürünü üretmek üzere söndürülmüş besleme stoğunun bir bölümünün parçalanmasını ve (b) ASTM D 3175'e göre ölçüldüğünde ağırlıkça yaklaşık %13-50 aralığında uçucu yanabilir madde (UYM) konsantrasyonuna sahip bir kok ürünü üretilmesini içerebilir.
