Buluş, bir FMCW-radar cihazı (1) ile arkadan ölçülerek bir trafik ışığı alanında bir trafik ihlalinin tespit edilmesine yönelik bir yöntem ve bir düzenleme ile ilgilidir. Bu kapsamda aracın (6) sürüşü esnasında bir FMCW-radar cihazının (1) bir radar ışını (11) vasıtasıyla, bunun birinci kenar ışını (16) yatay olarak, yol kenarı (21) ile bir geniş açı (δ#&) yapar ve aynı zamanda bunun araç önü (63), bir araç kanadı (64) ve araç arka kısmı (65) ölçülür. Elde edilen ölçüm sinyallerinden aracın uzunluğu (I) tespit edilir ve aracın (6) bir dur çizgisi (23) yakınında araç arka kısmı (66) vasıtasıyla belirlenen spesifik radyal mesafesine (rn) eklenir ve araç hızı yardımıyla aracın önünün (63) dur çizgisi (23) boyunca geçişi öngörülür.
