Bulus, yüksek hizdaki, zirh delici mermilerden çikan kinetik enerjinin emilmesi ve dagilmasi için karma bir zirh levhasi saglar; levha, yüksek yogunluktaki seramik topaklarin, çok sayida bitisik sira halinde baglanmasini saglayacak sekilde katilastirilmis bir malzeme ile dogrudan baglanan ve levha formunda tutulan yüksek yogunluktaki seramik topaklardan olusan tek bir iç tabakayi içerir; levhanin özelligi, topaklarin en azindan % 93' lük bir Al2O3 muhtevasina ve en azindan 2.5 degerinde bir özgül agirliga sahip olmasi; topaklarin çogunlugunun, en azindan 3 mm uzunlugunda bir eksene sahip olmasi ve katilastirilmis malzeme ile bitisik siralardan olusan tek bir iç tabaka halinde baglanmasidir; buradaki topraklarin çogunlugu, en azindan bitisik 4 toprak ile temas halindedir ve katilastirilmis malzeme ve levha, elastiktir.
