Автор нашел, что разложение нейтральных растворов сульфита даже при высокой температуре идет совершенно спокойно с измеримой скоростью . Элементарна  сера при этом или совсем не выдел етс  из раствора или в очень небольшом количестве образуетс  в первый момент реакции и при дальнейшем нагревании снова переходит в раствор. Раствор после проведени  реакции приобретает сильно щелочной характер и содержит в себе тиосульфат, нолитионат, сульфат и другие соединени  серы. Например , если нагревание раствора сульфита вести при те.мпературе 350°, то через короткий промежуток времени получаетс  желтый раствор, в которо.м элементарна  сера отсутствует .
