The invention relates to the field of metallurgists of non-ferrous metals 1 ", in particular, to the field of producing granulated magnesium by spraying a liquid metal.
A known method for producing granulated magnesium and alloys based on it by spraying a jet of molten metal with the introduction of a salt additive from alkali and alkaline earth metal chlorides. In carrying out this method, granules of irregular oblong shape are obtained.
0-10.The proposed method differs in that upon receipt of granulated magnesium and its alloys, salt additives are used, the crystallization onset temperature of which is lower than that of the metal, and the density at 670-730 ° C exceeds the density of the sprayed metal by 1.01 -1.2 times. Salt additives have a composition, weight. %: a) MgCb 5.0-20.0; KC1 35-55; YOU 0-3,0; NaCl + CaCb else; b) MgCb 25-4; 5; KC1 30-45; NaCl 5-20; YOU 4-10; COS 0-10.
The described method makes it possible to obtain granules of predominantly spherical shape at the fuller protection of magnesium droplets and alloys based on it against oxidation, helps to reduce the hygroscopicity of the obtained granulate, and also allows granulating magnesium alloys containing elevated concentrations of aluminum and zinc.
Example. The centrifugal granulator is sprayed with liquid magnesium.
4,3%.Ave. and 720 ° C and perforated cup rotation speed of 1000 rpm. During the discharge of magnesium IB, the granulator simultaneously with the metal of the continuous jet is added a salt additive in the amount of 8% by weight of the metal. The salt additive is prepared from a mixture of the working electrolyte of chlorine-magnesium electrolytic feeding circuit with sodium chloride, anhydrous carnallite and. barium flux. The melting temperature of the salt additive is 600 ° C, and its density exceeds the density of the sprayed metal by 1.01-1.2 times. The result is a pellet of predominantly spherical shape (see drawing). The amount of irregular particles is 4.3%.
