Upon applying a current pulse through igniting electrode 11-thin-film current conductor 4- non-consumable electrode 5 electric explosion evaporation of material of thin-film current conductor 4 from the surface of annular insulator 3 occurs. Initiating plasma resulting from the explosion evaporation gets into in the gap defined by non-consumable electrode 5 and consumable electrode 11 causes formation of cathode microspots on the consumable electrode and auxiliary pulsed arc discharge in the gap defined by non-consumable electrode 5 - consumable electrode 11. The plasma of material of consumable electrode 11 fills the discharge gap of generator resulting in its breakthrough and maintaining an arc discharge between cathode 1 and anode 2 of the generator.
