Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Tobacco smoke filters, which consist entirely of tobacco, have long been known. They have good filtration properties and are particularly attractive to many smokers for reasons such as biodegradability, natural origin, environmental aspects. The use of highly aromatic tobacco leads to improved taste properties of tobacco smoke.

A drawback of conventional tobacco filters is that the tobacco comes directly into contact with the user's tongue and tongue, which leads to tobacco attachment and leads to sensory irritations. Also, the visual action of the tobacco filter often encounters rejection.

FR 2 260 302 A discloses a cigarette holder in which a tobacco rod can be inserted as filter material.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The object of the invention is to provide a conventional filter cigarette with a sensory-enhanced yet faultless smoking enjoyment in which the filter element is directly connected to the tobacco-wrapping paper, while improving the filtration properties compared to conventional filter materials.

At the same time, the labial and linguistic disturbances of conventional tobacco filters should be avoided; furthermore, the structure of the filter, in its physical properties (tobacco compression density and tensile resistance), should match those of conventional filter cigarettes.

Further advantageous features are set forth in the subclaims.

An essential advantage of the invention resides in the prevention of linguistic, labial and haptic irritations by using a hollow mouthpiece filter element which, in addition, has pleasant haptic and optical properties through its surface smoothness.

A further advantage of the invention is that the use of aromatic tobacco in a tobacco filter results in a distinctly improved taste. At the same time, this equipment allows a clear reduction in the cost of using the material, since less aromatic and thus more cost-effective tobacco can be used in the strand.

As a result, the present invention provides a filter system once from a tobacco filter and secondly from a hollow filter.

In addition, the particular flow properties of the filter are utilized by the present invention.

Another advantage lies in improved optics by increasing the distance of the tobacco surface from the mouth end filter. In addition, the use of a hollow filter element in the tobacco filter saves the material cost of highly aromatic filter tobacco.

Aromatic tobacco filter materials are those of good leaf quality, such as e.g. tobacco with a very low proportion of expanded tobacco, chenille or foil tobacco, or tobacco previously subjected to aroma enrichment. The aromatic tobacco charge in the tobacco filter element reduces a markedly negative taste impression compared to the one-piece artificial filter elements. In order to enrich the flavor of the tobacco filter material, thermal processes can be used in a manner known per se.

The cord wrapping material may, in one embodiment, consist of at least one wrapping layer of reconstituted tobacco or natural tobacco leaf, the covering sheet being fixed in a spiral winding.
