The subject of the invention is a filtering system for own manufacture of cigarettes according to a broader concept of the main claim.

Tobacco inserts for own cigarette making are known from DE-PS-889 578, NL-PS-6 703 935 for their own rolling of cigarettes, and from DEOS-3 244 906, DE-U-8 326 for their own rolling and casing. 921 and DE-U-8 309 186. All of these cartridges are based on the fact that their sheath is otherwise fully smokable material, which is so permeable to air that the cartridge cannot be smoked alone but it can be consumed by smoking only after it has been inserted into a pack of cigarette paper.

The same tobacco cartridge is proposed as a system according to DE-OS 3 407 461 respectively. EU-A-0 155 514. In addition to its generally stable pre-fabricated cartridge shape, it is dimensioned in length and cross-section so that it fits snugly on the inside of the cigarette paper sleeve.

The disadvantage of such systems, in which, in particular, according to DE-PS 3 407 461, the tobacco cartridge has to fit the length of the cigarette paper sleeve with the filter plug is that it does not give the smoker the ability to influence the taste of the cigarette made it himself.

It is an object of the invention to propose a system of the kind mentioned in the introduction, in which the consumer at his own discretion may influence the taste of the cigarette he has made himself. It is further an object of the invention to propose a system whereby tobacco is saved for the benefit of the consumer and different tobacco blends of different flavors may be used.

Therefore, to solve this task, a system is proposed in terms of the designation of the main claim, with the preferred forms mentioned in the sub-claims.

With a tobacco cartridge assembled according to the invention, it is possible in a surprising way to give the sham cigarette maker the opportunity to change the path of the mainstream of smoke and thus the aroma of his cigarette by choosing a tobacco cartridge.

With the shape of the tobacco insert, the main smoke stream from the tobacco insert can be channeled or swirled if desired, which can be appropriately amplified by perforation in the transition area between the cigarette paper sleeve and the mouthpiece paper.

A further advantage resulting from the reduction of the cross section and the fact that the cigarette insert does not fit within the cigarette sleeve in diameter is the formation of a non-tobacco area after the upstream flow or in the immediate vicinity of the filter plug surrounded by a wrapper sheet which it surrounds the filter plug completely and the sleeve of cigarette paper that contacts the lower hull. Because the consumer never smokes his or her cigarette perfectly to the edge of the filter plug and, as a rule, discards 13% or more of tobacco from a roll of tobacco with standard filter cartridges today, this results in a reduction in the diameter of the tobacco cartridge in the area of the filter plug that would allow a blank space without tobacco. otherwise he discarded it. The cigarette shown in Figure 1 consists of a tobacco cartridge 2 and a dose of tobacco 4 surrounded by an air-permeable pack 6.

Its permeability is such that the tobacco cartridge as such cannot be smoked, although it can be smoked. The pack of cigarette paper 10 has a filter plug 12 and a wrapper for the mouthpiece 14.

Tobacco cartridge 2 has a * typically slightly smaller diameter than a cigarette paper sleeve 10, so that it can be pushed into the sleeve. According to the invention, this tobacco cartridge has an area of 16 whose diameter is 5 to 25%, and preferably 10% smaller than the diameter of the tobacco cartridge. This smaller diameter area may be located between the center of the tobacco insert and the mouthpiece area and in one embodiment may form a inserted end of the tobacco insert that can be pushed to the filter plug as shown in Figure 1.

In another embodiment, the smaller diameter region 16 ', as shown in Figure 2, may be located in the middle region or in the first third of the tobacco insert.

The production of such tobacco inserts is possible on conventional devices or in such a way as to reduce the roll of tobacco at certain intervals in diameter, to divide it by wrapping, and then to flatten it by turning each section, or in another conventional method of manufacture, by analogy to the manufacture of cigarettes. filters, specially manufactured areas of the tobacco cartridge with reduced premix, additionally connect them or. connect with a roll of tobacco insert and distribute accordingly.

Specially designed areas of smaller diameter 16 tobacco cartridges may contain cheaper tobacco blends than tobacco cartridges.

Preference is given to work lengths of smaller diameter 16 which are 2- to 4 times the diameter of the cigarette paper sleeve 10; this generates useful flows in the lower part, in addition to the desired tobacco savings, especially for cigarettes that are ventilated in that part. Particularly preferred is the difference between the tobacco insert 2 and the diameter of the narrower part 12, which is about 0.5 mm.

A system for own manufacture of cigarettes with a filter consisting of a) a cigarette paper tube with a filter mouthpiece, b) a tobacco cartridge which is factory-cut from a roll of tobacco and pre-fabricated and consists of a dose of tobacco, which is open at the front, which corresponds to the tobacco filling of the manufactured cigarette and which can be inserted into a sleeve of cigarette paper whose surface is coated of fully breathable, permeable, non-smokable material, which, after being inserted into a tube of cigarette paper, can be consumed by smoking and is characterized by the tobacco insert (2), whose largest diameter for insertion into the cigarette sleeve (10) is slightly smaller than its diameter, has parts (16) with smaller diameters that are 5 to 25% smaller than the larger diameter of the tobacco cartridge. 2.
