Abstract
The testbed (2) includes a number of beams (4) separated by lengthwise gaps parallel to each other at floor level and a seat (10) on a sliding path (8). The seat accommodates a replica passenger (12) in a conventional seatbelt harness. A roof mounted gantry (20) comprising two or more joists (22) supporting a crossbeam carries a pierced (28) bearing plate (26). A variable pivot point is provided for the stem (32) of a pendulum (30) whose foot is guided via the shoe (36) and propelled by an electric or other drive (52). Components for testing e.g. a door (44) are fixed to a frame (42,48,50) and an arrester group (64,66,68) ensures safety.
