Abstract
A rotary compressor with forced displacement compresses a mixture of a gas and a cooling liquid which is intended to absorb heat generated by the compression working cycle. A cooling unit comprises separate heat exchangers for cooling of the compressed gas and the cooling liquid and a centrifugal fan which draws the cooling air through the heat exchangers. Due to the fact that the cooling air is drawn in through the heat exchangers a uniform air flow is achieved so that the heat exchangers can function with a high degree of efficiency and the centrifugal fan generates a pressure which is sufficient to deliver the heated cooling air to a point remote from the compressor. This release of the dissipated heat at a remote point increases the efficiency of the compressor because this prevents heated cooling air from mixing with the air drawn into the compressor. In addition it increases the efficiency of the heat exchangers. The waste heat can be recovered by leading it to a point where the heated cooling air can be used for room heating or process heating purposes.
