Abstract

The object of the present invention is to provide a pump enabling variation of the fluid flow at a minimum variation of the pressure. In a piston pump having a variable displacement, this is obtained according to the invention by the pump comprising both a housing 11 containing a fluid, and a swinging plate 5 displaceably journalled in the housing, and at least one piston 6A with a through, hollow cylinder 6C and arranged such relative to the swinging plate that the stroke of the piston varies with the displacement of the swinging plate, and devices 12, 8A, 10, 6E connected with the housing and the piston cylinder such that fluid flows from the housing to the cylinder during the intake stroke of the pump and is blocked against flow during the working stroke of the pump, and an outlet manifold 22 for the pump, both check valve devices 13, 14 arranged with the manifold and the piston cylinder and actuatable by a predetermined pressure in the piston cylinder during the working stroke for allowing passage of fluid from the cylinder to the manifold, following which a pressure is generated in the manifold, and devices 26, 21, 32, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 which are actuatable by a predetermined manifold pressure to displace the swinging plate and vary the stroke of the piston in order to provide a variable flow of fluid through the pump at a substantially constant pressure.
