Abstract

In an endless conveyer for use in combination with an automatic painting plant (not shown) for plate-shaped objects 1, and provided with a number of parallel carrying members 10 supported so as to be disposed at right angles to the direction of the conveyer path by a horizontal carrying frame 8, and resting in local contact with the side edge portions of the objects 1 at spaced points disposed in parallel relation with the direction of movement of the objects, the carrying frame 8 is provided with lifting means 26 which are displaceable and adjustable in vertical direction. Each of the lifting members consists of an hydraulic or pneumatic lifting cylinder with a displaceable pressure rod 27. A rack member 29 rigid with the rod 27 engages a gear 31 on the spindle of a potentiometer 32. The outer terminals of the latter are connected to form a bridge circuit with the corresponding terminals of a potentiometer 36, the arm 39 of which may be set to determine the height of the conveyer. This setting may be effected manually, or in response to the width of the objects 1 as described in Specification 1,209,651. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), the lifting means 26 are provided on a side of the carrying frame 8 parallel with the direction of the conveyer path, the other side of the frame 8 being pivotally connected to the fixed main frame (28). A leading carrying member of the conveyer (Fig. 8, not shown) may comprise a pair of laterally disposed rollers, the height of each of which is adjustable, to secure a smooth transition of the load.
