905,944. Photographic processing apparatus. WAINCO PRODUCTS Ltd. Aug. 29, 1960 [Aug. 31, 1959], No. 29697/59. Class 98 (2). An apparatus for processing photo - graphic film strips comprises a row of open-top processing tanks (1), and a main lift bar (4) extending lengthwise above the tanks, which bar has limited movement in this lengthwise direction under the action of fluid-operated means such as an air or liquid piston (5), and a second fluid-operated means (7) for raising or lowering the lift bar; projecting laterally from the lift bar are a number of film pick-up arms (8) from each of which is supported a hanger bar 3 (which can carry a number of unrolled film spools 2); arranged one each side of the tanks, and above the tops thereof, are a fixed pair of toothed racks (10) and inside them a similar movable pair (11), the latter having a (third) fluid-operated means for moving them vertically. As racks 11 move above and then below racks 10, a hanger bar resting on them (Fig. 1) is gradually moved forward tooth by tooth from one side of the tank to the other. The lift bar 4 then descends, engages the hanger bars, lifts them and the film strips clear of the tanks, moves along so that they are above the next adjacent tank, and lowers them once more into that tank. Two such lift bars may be provided, side-by-side, with a screen between them so that one may work in the dark and the other in the light.
