A suspension file, having a front cover 2, Fig. 1, and a rear cover 1 joined together by a spine 3, is made from a tubular blank of transparent plastics material, the blank having walls 5, 7, Fig. 3, provided with thickened portions 6, 8, which when folded longitudinally about fold lines 10, 11, respectively, define the spine 3 composed of four layers and the covers 1, 2, Fig. 2, each composed of portions 5<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>1</SP> and 5<SP>11</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP>, respectively, whereby a filing band 16 which may be of metal or a plastics material is attached by means of holes 14 or thermo-welded to the extension which is integral with thickened portion 8. The file is completed by punching out a recess 21 to define a suspension nose 22 and thermo-welding the area 23 around the recess 21 to reinforce the suspension nose. Welding of transverse edges 18, Fig. 1, byseams 19, 20 produces a pair of pockets between the respective covers, which pockets may be used either for identification purposes in conjunction with coloured sheets or filing of loose, unperforated sheets. By thermo-welding the spine 3, Fig. 1, along a line 25, the spine 3 is divided into four pockets, which may be used for insertion of index strips or coloured identification strips. These strips may also carry the index data.
