Abstract

1,195,103. Document covers; index tabs; index cards. W. LENNARTZ. 9 May, 1967 [13 May, 1966], No. 21459/67. Heading B6E. An index card made from a transparent, extruded, synthetic thermoplastic lay-flat tube, having reinforced longitudinal marginal edges 3, 4, Fig. 1, along one of which extend filing perforations 5, is provided with an integral index tab 10 formed by cutting away a longitudinal strip along the marginal edge remote from the perforations and sealing the tube walls together along seams 11, 12, 14 in a single thermo-cutting and thermo-welding operation. The tab 10 is formed as a pocket receiving an index label 15. The perforations 5 are protected against obturation by a coloured identification strip which is inserted between the walls of the index card by provision of a welding seam 6, terminating in an arcuate portion 8. In another embodiment the index tab 20, Fig. 3, has its obverse side fluted by welded seams 16 and a small pocket 17 may be used for insertion of a coloured signal or the post of an index signal.
