[Also in Division A4] A centrifugal fan unit has one or more stages each including a housing having an axial outlet and containing an impeller 13 which delivers air to the outlet via an annular passage formed between the housing and the periphery of wall 14, and via a coiled spring-shaped element 18. Substantially the whole of the air delivered by the impeller passes through the turns of the element 18 so that the air-flow slows down and thereby increases in pressure. The element may be arranged in several windings around the axial outlet. Stationary radial guide vanes may be arranged between the wall 14 and the housing.
