Abstract

1,203,612. Reciprocating pumps and motors. VOITH GETRIEBE K. G. Aug. 7, 1967 [Aug. 6, 1966; Feb.2, 1967], No.36192/67. Heading F1A. A rotating radial cylinder pump or motor has a two part block both parts having cylinders formed therein, the outer faces of the parts having valve ports formed therein, and the two parts are forced apart into engagement with valve members disposed at the axial ends of the block by hydraulic pressure applied to one or more chambers formed between the two parts. As shown in Fig. 1 side by side parts 3, 4 are keyed to the drive-shaft 1 and have a chamber 24 formed between them and sealed by seals 30, 33, 34 and connected by a passage 28 to the pressure port 23<SP>1</SP> by annular groove 26 and passage 25. In a modification Figs. 2, 3, 4 (not shown) the chamber is connected to both ports via a non-return valve so that the highest pressure prevails; a leak is provided between the chamber and a cylinder in each block. In the embodiments of Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) one or two pressure chambers are formed by concentric grooves and spigots. In a further embodiment Fig. 5, (not shown) an axially directed piston is disposed in bores provided in the two parts of the block and each bore is fed from the adjacent pump cylinder.
