Ceramic articles are removed from porous slip-casting moulds, by means of a guide and follower mechanism, the product-carrying mould part being pivoted about an axis extending in the direction of movement, the follower-receiving guide extending in this direction and mounted to be stationary in this direction but movable in a part-circular path transversely to this direction, the guide being moved along this path to rotate said mould part when its follower is in the guide from a first angular position in which the product remains in the mould part to a second angular position in which the product is permitted or caused to separate from the mould part, the length of the guide and the speeds of the guide and mould being such that the follower remains in the guide during angular movement thereof. In the Figs, the moulds 20, 21 are carried by a truck 4 on endless track 1. Each truck, Fig. 2, comprises a frame 11 having a portion 14 pivoted at 15 and carrying the lower mould part 20, a portion 12 pivoted at 13 and carrying the upper mould part 21, the whole upper part of the frame carrying said portions 12, 14 being pivoted at 18. As shown in Fig. 2, the mould is held open by roller 16 following guide 22 during movement through the heated tunnel 2, the mould being closed during section 23 of the track and filled during section 24, the truck then passing into non-heated tunnel 3. Thereafter, surplus slip may be drained from aperture (28, Fig. 4, not shown) by tilting about pivot 18 due to roller 19 following guide 26. After drying, the product may be removed to a truck (10) on another endless track 9. As in Figs. 6-9 (not shown) truck (10) runs down an incline to engage with truck 4 at 15 after upper mould part 21 is raised (Fig. 6) and part (30) of truck (10) is pivoted at 15 on to the upper part of product (29, Fig. 7) and both part (30) and portion 14 carrying product 29 are turned on to truck (10, Fig. 8). Portion 14 is then returned to truck 4, truck (10) disengaged from 15 by movement up an incline and divergence of tracks 1, 9. Portion 12 is then moved to half-open position, 12<SP>1</SP>, for passage through tunnel 2. The product may be finally dried in tunnel 8.
