Abstract

The tensioning frame for a painter's canvas comprises four slats (1) whose ends are mitred, forming 45 deg. and faces (2). A slot (12) is recessed into each end face, capable of receiving a securing lug (7) having two flat-section wings (8), a first wedge-shaped portion fitting corresponding portions in the recesses, a threaded rod extension (9), a separate wedge piece (10) engaging the inside of the slats, and a tensioning nut (11). The lug (7) is integral with the rod (9) which latter bi-sects the corner between adjoining members. The recesses for the wings (8) either extend at right angles to the members with the rod pointing inwards, or parallel to the member with the rod pointing outwards, relative to the complete frame.
