Abstract

The HGV transporting truck consists of a mobile platform (4) with bogies (3) at each end, of sufficient length to take tractor units with articulated semi-trailers. The distance (E) between its chassis pivots (P) is reduced to a minimum by having them in front of and behind the respective bogies (3). The useful length of each platform is limited to 16.9 m, while the gap between the chassis pivots is of the order of 17.4 m. The floor of the platform can be raised or lowered for loading/unloading and transport by a system of cables or endless screws driven by electric motors and reduction gears.
