Abstract
594528 Disclosed is a method of installing a support structure in a sea or river bed (SB). The support structure is capable of being temporarily self-standing, by being heavy enough to be held in position by friction with the sea or river bed (SB) prior to and throughout the carrying out of operations required to permanently anchor the support structure to the sea or river bed (SB). The support structure has a plurality of anchoring positions for co-operation with positionally adjustable sea or river bed (SB) engaging support foot units (7) with each anchoring position being adapted to receive and locate anchoring means. The method comprising the steps of: transporting and lowering to the sea or river bed (SB) the support structure by means of an installation vessel; positioning to a desired level and orientation the support structure with respect to the sea or river bed (SB) by way of the foot units (7); and anchoring the support structure to the sea or river bed (SB) with the anchoring means by way of means supported from the support structure for enabling the handling and sinking of the anchoring means. Further disclosed is a structure for use in such a method.
