Abstract

A method of transforming a plant, whereby into the plant cell is introduced a nucleic acid molecule with a nucleotide sequence encoding a protein having an amino acid sequence having at least 70% homology to SEQ.ID 1 or SEQ.ID 2. Said sequences encode ligand-gated ion channel proteins such as glutamate or GABA receptor proteins and thus such transformation is proposed to be beneficial in such areas as improved plant growth and productivity.
