Abstract

Nukleinsyresekvenser som koder Xenopus-melatoninreseptorer av MEL l A-typen, også kalt Mellc-typen kan anvendes som prober og for å uttrykke proteiner og/eller frag- menter av disse proteiner som har en funksjonell melatoninreseptoraktivitet av MEL l A-typen. Videre beskrives vektorer som kan benyttes for ekspresjonen, vertsceller som har vektoren og også en modell for å studere melatoninreseptorer. En prosess for screening av substanser som har en agonistisk eller antagonistisk virkning mot proteiner som har en melatoninreseptorvirkning og sett for å detektere graden av affinitet for forskjellige substanser for proteinene med melatoninreseptor- aktivitet, er også beskrevet. Nukleinsyresekvensene som koder funksjonelle melatoninreseptorer av MEL l A-typen er valgt blant slike med de følgende sekvenser: SEQ ID No. l, SEQ ID No. 3, SEQ ID No. 5 eller SEQ ID No. 7.
