Abstract
Slagg blir umiddelbart overført fra et søppel- forbrenningsanlegg til et første oppvarmingskammer (2) av en smelteovn (1), og smeltet der under oksiderende betingelser. Den smeltemasse (16) som derved skaffes, blir overført til et annet opp- varmingkammer (3) hvori tungmetallforbindelser blir redusert til deres metalliske form. Videre blir ytterligere findelte rester såsom flyveaske, kjeleaske og filterstøv innført via en hulelektrode (21) til det annet oppvarmingskammer (3). Smeltemassen (16) blir deretter videreført til et tredje oppvarmings- kammer (4). Metaller som har blitt overført til metallform via reduksjonen, fordamper resp. sedimenterer som smeltemasse i det annet og tredje oppvarmingskammer (3, 4). Metallsmeltemassen blir kontinuerlig tilbakeført til det første opp- varmingskammer (2), oppsamlet der og fjernet. Den slaggsmeltemasse som hovedsakelig har blitt befridd for uønskede tungmetaller, blir fjernet fra det tredje oppvarmingskammer (4).
